IN BRITTANY, WE'VE GOT THE HOTS FOR CRAB!
Our hotel in St Malo offers a breathtaking view of the ships on the horizon. Did you know that Saint-Malo is the region's leading crabbing port? The gillnetters are on the attack from early morning to serve you lobsters and crabs for lunch. The crews are used to working 18-hour days to deliver to the wholesalers on time.
That's right! Crab fishing in Brittany is much more than a tradition, it's a whole organization! Crustaceans and fish are hunted in an area stretching from Les Roches Douvres to Guernsey and Jersey. Every day, several kilometers of crab-infested nets are reeled in by the sailors. Then the gillnetters have to unhook the spider crabs trapped in the nets. This hard work takes place on the way home.
AND THE APPETIZER? AT CHATEAUBRIAND, OF COURSE!
And what about your appetite? For a taste of the region's finest crabs, there's no better place than our restaurant "Le 5", where you'll find local delicacies. Our seaside hotel in St-Malo buys its fish and shellfish directly from the sailors. Our kitchens are thus supplied with new products on a daily basis. If you'd like to enjoy local dishes in a St Malo hotel overlooking the bay, then Chateaubriand is the best hotel restaurant in St Malo!
After an iodized lunch or dinner, all you'll want to do is discover the Cité Corsaire and stroll through its intimate, secret streets.
